John James married Elizabeth Luke in the Methodist Parsonage, Nevada City, California
on 12 April 1875 by the Rev. P.Y. Cool.
(John came to California about 1868 and mined until 1885)
(Around 1885 he purchased 360 acres in French Ravine, three miles below Grass Valley on the McCourtney road where he practised general farming and stock raising)

(In 1920 Elizabeth is aged 63 and a Farmer. The family is living in Grass Valley, Nevada, California)

(Elizabeth died at the ranch of old age on 13 April 1925)

In 1920 Fred is aged 30 and an Electrician. Beatrice is aged 32. They are living in Oakland, Alameda, California
Beatrice died in August 1962
James B. James Born around 1885Died in 1895 aged 9
Frank James18 October 1887 Entered the US Army on 3 November 1917. As a member of Company D, 18th US Infantry, 1st Division he saw action in France. He received the regimental decoration Fourre Guerre from the French government. Discharged on 30 September 1919.
In 1920 he is at home aged 32 and a Fartm Lab
In 1930 he is 41 and a Farmer living with his brother William
Frank died at the Springhill Manor Convalescent Hospital on 4 March 1969. Interred in the family plot of the Grass Valley city cemetery
