Samuel Smitheram of St Nicholas Street hung himself on 27 JUN and was buried on 29 JUN 1851 in Bodmin aged 15. The Royal Cornwall Gazette reported on the inquest on 4 JUL 1851. Samuel Smetheram, who had been for some time in the service of Captain Thompson of Bodmin went out of the house on Friday morning and as he did not return when he was wanted to go for the milk, the servant went to look for him and found him hanging to a beam in the stable and quite dead. The Jury returned an open verdict.
