Carlyon, Esq., coroner:– On Monday last, at Mylor, on the body of John Tresidder, of that place, gardener, aged 45 years. –John Michell, schoolmaster, deposed that he saw the deceased at Falmouth market on Saturday and arranged with him to return with him in a boat which his son and a young man called John Tregenza had there at Falmouth, having taken it there that day. The boat was small – about 14 feet long, and belonged to the master and pupils of the school at Mylor. They left Falmouth about nine in the evening. The deceased was sitting in the stern, steering with the yoke-lines. Witness sat on the after-thwart, facing him; and the two lads were pulling. In their way up, one of the lads said we must give them a spell. Deceased said we would as soon as they got to Beach Cottage. As soon as they arrived there, deceased said "Now boys we’ll give you a spell." Witness turned round to see if they were preparing to change places; and whilst he was doing so, he felt a slight shock, and found that the deceased had fallen out of the boat and disappeared. The deceased had been sitting in one posture from Falmouth, and witness supposed that on his getting up he found his legs cramped, and was going to put his hand for support, on the gun-whale, but missed it and fell over. The boat immediately filled, and, as soon as witness caught hold of it, it turned bottom up. He left John Tregenza clinging to it while he struck out for the shore. He was taken into a praam by a young man from Flushing called Hawke, who seeing from the shore what had happened, had come to their assistance. Hawke and witness then went out in a praam and took off Tregenza from the boat. The other lad, a son of the witness Mitchell, swam ashore. After they had taken off Tregenza and landed him and witness, Hawke and a son of Mr. Husband who lives in Beach Cottage, and had by this time arrived at the spot, put off to the boat and found the deceased near the spot where he had fallen into the water. He had not sunk, but was about 9 inches under the surface. They took the body into the boat and landed him. He was then taken into Mr. Husband's house, and every means was used for his resuscitation, but without any effect. He had been under water about ten minutes. The witness stated that deceased and all the party were perfectly sober, and that they had been conversing pleasantly all the way up from Falmouth. His evidence was corroborated by the two lads, who saw the deceased rise from his seat, and fall away before he had got properly on his legs. Verdict "Accidentally drowned." ) (In 1851 Ann is aged 48 and a Nursery and Seeds Woman. The family is living in Mylor Bridge) (In 1861 Ann is aged 58 and a Grocer. The family is living in Mylor Bridge) (In 1871 Ann is aged 68 and a Nursery Owner. The family is living in Mylor Bridge) (In 1881 Ann is aged 78 and a retired Nursey Woman.
