The Will of Marten Bodener dated 4 July 1621

In the name of God amen the fourth daie of Julie, In the yere of our Lord god 1621 and in the xiixth (18th) yere of the raigne of our soveraigne Lord James By the grace of god, King of England Scotland Frannce and Irland defender of the fayth &c and of Scotland the 55. I Marten BODENER of the prish of St Pawle in the Countie of Cornewall husbandman, being Sick & weack in Bodie, But of pfect mynd & remembrannce god be praysed therfore doe macke my last will and testament in maner & forme folow ing. first I bequeath my soule to Almyghtie god, And my Bodie to the earth to be Buried after the maner of Christien buriall. I geve & bequeth to the poore of the prish of Pawle xvjd (16 pence).

I gev & bequeth to my twoo god sones ijs (2 shillings) that is xijd (12 pence) a pece
I geve & bequeth to Mary, wife to Willm HUCHEN xijd (12 pence).
I geve & bequeth to An daughter to Herzie HOGGE a steere of a yere old,
Lastlie I geve & bequeth to Marten my sone the gret Bruing pan. The rest of all my goodis, moveable & unmoveable I geve & bequeth to Marten my sone, and Herrie HOGGE my sone in Law. And I appoynct & ordaine the sayd Marten my sone my full and whole executor. But my will & chardge is that the said Herrie HOGGE my sone in Lawe shall bere & pay the one half of all the costis & chargis of my Buriall, and other chargis whatsoever thatt shalbe due and the Legases that by mee as geven & bequethed in this my last will as farfurth as my sone Marten my Executor before he shall have & raceive his pt of the goodis. And this my last will & testament I chardge my sone Marten my executor to see it Justlie & trulie pformed prdone & these Legacies payd & awnsweryd according to the true meanyng of this my prsent will and this to be my last will & testament I confirme it with my owne hand & sygne as I was able.
